Thailand has made history by employing the first robotic cop. Name AI Robo 1.0, the robotic law enforcement officer has been deployed in Thailand.
Quick Facts
The robot’s official name is Pol Col Nakhonpathom Plod Phai. This means ‘The Nakhon Panthom’ province is safe. Per officials, the robot cyborg 1.0 police model is completely safe and touts the following features:
360-Degree Surveillance: Assuming the hat does not obstruct its ability to see, officials claim the robot can see in a full circle in all directions.
Facial Recognition: The robot can scan faces in real time and cross-check observations with a database. This would give the robot the ability to do things like recognize trafficking victims.
Behavior Monitoring: Let’s not pretend this is not sort of dystopian. The robot naturally has a feature that allows it to determine if people are being too rowdy and can report back to officials behaviors deemed unwanted or violent.
Weapon Detection: Officials claim the robot can detect weapons and distinguish them from things like toy water guns.
