If you go to any basketball court today, you will see a travesty unfolding before your very eyes. You will see young men, likely with a headband and an annoying alpaca haircut, picking up frequent flyer miles as they shout ‘step-back’ or really think they are doing something special with their ‘gather step’.
I am going to give it to you straight today: the gather step? TRAVELING VIOLATION. The step-back: TRAVELING VIOLOATION.

If this was a COGIC service, I would motion to the minister of music to start playing charismatic organ because I am going to preach the truth. I am sick of it like any basketball purist and we need to put an end to the nonsense. Say, Amen.
Some of you basketball purists may wonder what Adam Silver has done to the league. We lived through the horrible James Harden era, where people can just kick their legs out and get 20 free throws a game. That had to be reigned in. It’s now time to also get out the lasso and hogtie all the traveling in the NBA.
The “rules” were rewritten to let LeBron James break records, let’s get it straight. Adam Silver sold the soul of true basketball to the devil for a few longevity stats. But what we’re seeing is an unwatchable product, that has even little alpaca haired kids in basketball shootarounds thinking they are doing something special while traveling all over the place.
Since people likely have forgotten what a real layup looks like, I’ve given a little demonstration. And take it from me, you feel good after shooting a shot right. So let’s make the NBA a great place again and fix this broken new ‘rule’ that allows people to travel.
