A fun post by a Facebook creator sparked an interesting conversation. The post simply had a young woman wearing a skirt, showing some of the perils faced by skirts girls who elect a modest fashion.
Being the commentator that I am, I threw in the byline for this article. It sparked a back and forth debate, where some people feel that it is not possible to be a moral fashionista if one wears less than a skirt. That is an interesting take that I have no problem with thinking. It seems legitimate.
My worldview and view of faith though is as I stated in response: ‘You can wear a thong, skirt, daisy dukes or a full burka. God loves you all the same. ” I continued:
“Receive this blessing. God is a perfect judge. We should not spend our days cheating frivolous rules and cherry picking scriptures of what we think would be judgement, but instead focus on the intent of our hearts. The Bible’s recurring message is that salvation and love has no borders, it has no attire. But our judgement under God will always be based on our hearts. Even the Children of Israel in the Old Testament met a harsh reality and ‘hearts were hardened.’. In the new Covenant, we see listens for us based on agape love. A woman in a thong bikini is just as fine as a woman who opts to wear a Victorian dress in 110 degree weather. One may enjoy the gifts God created, such as a beach, without having a heat stroke, but at the end of the day God cares about the intent in their heart. And my faith is Godly women can wear whatever they want and still be Godly women, because God is not judging them by the stitched polyester upon their vessel, but simply, the intent of their heart.”
Unbelievably, as the discussion continued I was eventually called a heretic. In response, my heart found room to give this truth:
“Friend, use of the word ‘heretical’ oft reflects the heart. Please open yours to understanding. If righteousness could be measured in fabric, Pharisees would’ve ruled the runway. Please, open your Bible and read the following: 1Samuel 16:7
“The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Be blessed and feel free to send any other questions, friend.”
